George R. Funk

	George R. Funk, 90, of 1872 Royalton Road, Elkville, died at 10:14 a.m. Sunday, January 30, 2000 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
	Mr. Funk was born November 17, 1909 in Carbondale to George John and Lena Wilhelmina (Hagee) Funk.
	He married Edith Pauline Rees June 1, 1930 in Carbondale.  She preceded him in death on November 21, 1993.
	Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Norman Jones of Harrisburg and Marilyn and Gene Wiggins of Lake of Egypt; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Benny and Sue Funk, Gene Funk and Mary Neurohr, John and Cheryl Funk and Tim Funk, all of Elkville and Charles and Debby Funk of Auburndale, Florida; 26 grandchildren; 15 grandchildren-in-law; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren-in-law; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Lillian Clerk of Carbondale.
	He was also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Laura Garrett, Leona Guthrie and Freida Harpool.
	Mr. Funk was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Royalton where he served as a trustee and member of the Holy Name Society.
	He served his community in many ways.  He was a past member of the Elkville School Board, Jackson County Extension Council, the Elkville Lions Club and a 4-H leader.  He farmed around the Elkville area until he retired in 1975 and became an avid gardener.
	Funeral services for Mr. Funk were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 1 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Brian Barker officiating.  Burial was at the St. Aloysius Cemetery east of Royalton.  Visiting hours were after 6 p.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Royalton where the Rosary prayer service was held at 6 p.m.
	Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Funk may be made to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church.  Envelopes will be available at the visitation.
	Vantrease Funeral Homes, Inc. of Zeigler and Royalton was in charge of the services.
